The Campus

  • Skyline is a public, comprehensive 2-year community college established in 1969 as part of the San Mateo County Community College District.
  • Located in San Bruno on 111 acres.
  • Campus includes seven major buildings, 42 lecture classrooms, 35 lab classrooms, nine computer labs, 520 seat theater, and an art gallery.
  • Student and Community Center opened in January 2007. The newly renovated Science Building opened in January 2009.
  • The Learning Resources building houses a 50,000 volume library, The Learning Center, and electronic classrooms.

The Academics

  • 44 Associate Degree programs.
  • 43 Certificate programs.
  • Honors Transfer Program provides enhanced transfer and educational opportunities for highly motivated students who seek a challenging academic experience for intellectual and personal growth.
  • Interdisciplinary Studies major awards an Associate of Arts degree for students who pursue broad areas of study and exploration. Three of the four options in the major enable students to also complete transfer admission requirements.
  • Learning Communities (i.e. ASTEP, Kababayan, Puente, Scholar Athlete, and Women in Transition) are two or more classes with a common theme designed to be taken together by the same group of students. Learning Communities are designed to connect students to each other, to their teachers, to the college, and to learning.  Everyone works together to create community in a positive learning environment.

The Students

  • Approximately 9,449 students take 1,009 class sections
  • Generally, three-quarters of the students are part-time and one-quarter are full-time
  • Approximately 39% are day students, 39% are evening students & 22% are day/evening combination
  • 43% of students are aged 18-22. 22% are 23-28. 15% are 29-39.
  • 53% of students are women.
  • Ethnicity of Skyline students: 25% Asian/Pacific Islander, 24% white, 20% Hispanic, 19% Filipino, 4% African American, 9% other/unreported.
